Albuquerque, New Mexico (1994-present)
CEO & President of CIC Photonics, Inc., designer and manufacturer of analytical and industrial instrumentation, with world-wide sales.

Atlanta, Augusta, and Warner Robins, Georgia (1986-90)
Director of Advanced Technology Development Center for the University System of Georgia (1986-90). Rewrote the Business Plan of ATDC and implemented numerous new management and operational facets of this high tech incubator and recruiter of tech companies to Georgia. Assisted over 100 early-stage companies with their missions, management, marketing, and financing. Instituted the Georgia Seed Capital Fund via a State Constitutional Amendment process.

Cairo, Egypt (1995 and 1997)
Consultant to Egypt's Department of Economic Development. On second visit, presented two one-week workshops on business planning to agency and university officials and to invited entrepreneurs. Provided advice on physical features of two new government subsidized business incubators.

Cuernavaca, Mexico (1994)
Guest of Director of Mexico's Research Institute of Electricity; provided guidance to the Institute and to business incubators in Cuernavaca on the factors and funding required to establish and operate business incubators; met with individual start-up entrepreneurs to offer guidance on the growth of their companies.

Denver, Colorado (1977-82)
Created Western Energy Planners, Ltd. to provide engineering, economic, and environmental consulting services in the renewable energy technologies for public and private applications throughout the Rocky Mountain and Western States. Principal participant in DOE's geothermal resource planning program.

Ft. Collins, Colorado (1983-86)
Created the for-profit Colorado Research Development Corporation as a spin-off of the non-profit Research Institute of Colorado. CRDC was one of the first entities in the U.S. dedicated to transferring university R&D into commercial products via the SBIR program.

Golden, Colorado (1982-83)
Coauthored technical papers with Dr. Frank Keith and others on solar energy technologies. Participated in the Director's early planning to advance SERI to a national laboratory status.

Hong Kong (1990-93)
Visited Hong Kong technical institutes and universities three times to explore collaborative programs in technology incubation, technology transfer, and venture capital. Offered position of Director of Technology Transfer with the new Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1996)
Consultant to the Technology Park Malaysia to evaluate potential for creation of seed capital funds by TPM to support growth of start-up technology enterprises admitted to the TPM Incubator Program. Formulated Business Plan for three-phase creation of Ventech Funds with RM100 million. Sponsored by United Nations Development Funds.

Mexico City, Mexico (1994)
Delivered paper at the Technological University on the opportunity within universities to stimulate and support entrepreneurship.

Paris, France (2002)
Invited speaker representing the National Association of Seed and Venture Capital at the European Conference on Global Incubation. Paper presented on High Performance Teams of Technology Incubators and Venture Capital.

Recife, Brazil (1987)
Key participant in Economic Development Mission provided by University System of Georgia to State of Pernambuco, Brazil. Presented seminar on entrepreneurship and enterprise development to government, university, and city personnel.

St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia (1991)
Seminar leader in week-long training of faculty from leading USSR universities in the tools and process of technology transfer. Subsequently elected to the USSR Academy of Scientists in Higher Education.

Santa Fe, New Mexico (1997)
Organizer and Chairman of Fifth Annual Conference of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds in Santa Fe.

Shanghai, Xian, and Beijing, China (PRC) (1987)
Member of 12-person team of senior Georgia Tech administrators on trip to enhance existing university to university relations with six technology-oriented Chinese universities. Presented success stories of the ATDC in technology entrepreneurship and tech transfer.

Taipei, Taiwan (1986)
Member of Georgia team of economic development officials directed at recruiting Taiwanese business into Georgia; principally responsible for conveying the technology opportunities.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (1990)
Presented paper and advisory services on tech transfer and technology business incubation to government and university personnel; sponsored by the USSR State Committee on Higher Education.

Tomsk - Moscow, Russia (1989)
Member of first team of Americans to visit Tomsk in Siberia, site of several USSR research institutions and universities, including atmospheric and nuclear science laboratories. Participant in dedication of the Tomsk Technology Incubator, the first facility of its type throughout the Soviet Union.

Toulouse, France (1987)
Invited speaker at dedication of the Toulouse Regional Technology Center; offered advice and encouragement to technology incubator directors and tenant companies.
